Assam State Biodiversity Board (ASBB) has issued a recruitment notification for the position of ‘Field Assistant’ on a contractual basis. The board is looking to fill 2 vacant positions. The main responsibilities of the Field Assistant will be to assist in the strengthening of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMC) and the update of selected People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) in Assam. Duration of Engagement: One Year (extendable based on performance and fund availability)
Remuneration: Rs. 25,000/- per month along with traveling allowance as per applicable government norms.
Domicile: Candidates must be residents of Assam.
Age Limit: The age of the candidates should be between 21 to 38 years.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in ecology, wildlife biology, forestry, environmental sciences, zoology, botany, species conservation, conservation science, or any other related subject. Candidates who are currently pursuing their Master’s degree are not eligible to apply.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
– Minimum one year of experience in working with local communities in Assam.
– Knowledge of plant taxonomy and identification of flora and fauna.
– Experience in carrying out surveys and data collection with minimal supervision.
– Experience in planning, supervision, and monitoring of data collection and surveys.
– Experience in conducting Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), meetings, trainings, and awareness activities.
– Experience in the preparation of reports, communication, awareness, and training material.
– Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry, MS-Excel, Access, and related software applications.
– Proficiency in spoken and written English and Assamese is mandatory.
